Bertucci’s Story

  • 1981: Bertucci’s brick oven pizza & pasta was opened in 1981 in the Davis Square neighborhood in Somerville, MA. Its founder, Joey Crugnale was inspired by a visit to his grandmother’s home in Italy. He recreated his grandmother’s kitchen with a brick oven as a focal point, and thus the first Bertucci’s was born.
  • 1989: Their signature pizzas soon became so popular, which led to opening more and more pizza joints. As of 1989, there were 14 Bertucci’s restaurants. In the same year, Bertucci’s was listed as one of America’s top 10 pizza restaurants.
  • 2011: For the celebration of its 30th birthday, Bertucci’s brought back some of their classic dishes from the earlier menus.
  • Today: Preserving the traditional recipes and pizza crafting, Bertucci’s remain true to their authentic founding concept.

Their custom-made brick oven is what creates the authentic flavor of Bertucci’s dishes. Not only pizzas, but pasta, vegetables, and seafood, too are baked with fire. The high temperature of the oven locks in the freshness of the food and enhances its natural flavor.

All their dishes are handcrafted and made to order. At Bertucci’s brick oven pizza & pasta, they use only the freshest, high-quality ingredients.

The dough is made from scratch and is left to proof 48 hours before being transformed into delicious artisan pizzas, signature rolls, and appetizing focaccia bread.

Moreover, the tomato sauce is made daily, from scratch, with Bertucci’s blend of tomatoes grown in California and hand-cut fresh herbs.

The Menu

Their brick oven pizza is a must-try. After being proofed it is stretched and finished with a blend of fresh toppings. You can customize it by preference, or simply choose one from their menu. You can’t go wrong with a classic Margherita pizza, with fresh mozzarella, house-made tomato sauce, pecorino Romano and fresh basil.

However, don’t miss out on their eponymous pie – Bertucci pizza. Their famous freshly made dough is topped with the house-made tomato sauce, extra pepperoni, and extra mozzarella.
