Origin Story

Either way you slice it, Rosati's Pizza's story is a great one! Even though the restaurant we know and love today is considered to have been officially founded in 1964, its history goes way back.

It was at the end of the 19th century, in 1895, that Ferdinand Rosati opened an Italian restaurant on Coney Island. Originally from Naples, Italy, Ferdinand had all the know-how on cooking authentic Italian food, so his restaurant was an immense success.

Almost 10 years later, he moved to Chicago and blessed its famous Taylor Street with another restaurant. He served old-world pizza and super-authentic pasta and Italian dishes. In 1927, his son, Saverio, opened another pizzeria in Chicago. Naturally, as experience and taste were high and consistent, Saverio's pizzeria became a hotspot for the elite and politicians of Windy City, but also for everyone else!

Finally, when 1964 came, Saverio retired and his sons opened the first My Rosati's Pizza as we know it today. Since then, Rosati's Pizza expanded greatly, got inducted into the Pizza Hall of Fame, and included in Entrepreneur's Magazine's Franchise 500 list.
