Schlotzsky's Locations

Schlotzsky’s story began in 1971 when founder Don and Dolores Dissman opened their first hole-in-the-wall shop in the South Congress neighborhood in Austin, Texas. The first menu consisted of only one food item – their signature “The original” sandwich. Later the menu was enriched with one more item, an additional sandwich.

It was the early 1980s when besides their signature Schlotzsky’s sandwiches, pizzas, wraps, salads, soups, and more items were added to the original menu.

Today, there are hundreds of shops throughout the country. Many of them are in Texas, but there are numerous franchises in other states such as Kansas, Missouri, Michigan, Nebraska, and more.

Besides sandwiches, they serve delicious pizzas and flatbreads, soups, salads, and desserts. Schlotzsky’s pizza is made with a house-made sourdough crust and gluten-free crust, too. It has a crisp crust on the outside, that gets soft and spongy as you bite towards the center.

The sandwiches are made with a sourdough bun, too, but can be made with a gluten-free bun, wheat bread, pretzel bread, and more.

The Original Sandwich is made with lean smoked ham with Genoa and Cotto salami, cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese, black olives, red onion, lettuce, tomato, mustard, and their signature sauce.

Moreover, one of their most popular pies is the Fresh Veggie Pizza with mushrooms, green bell peppers, basil pesto, mozzarella, parmesan, red onion, black olives, and tomato.
