If there's one pizza Corona has become known for then it has to be the one that's named for the state and that's California-style pizza. It's a type of pizza that, unless you're a particularly discerning pie eater, is hard to tell apart from a traditional Italian thick crust. It has the same general appearance and the same aroma of toasted bread and melted cheese when baked, but does have a couple of slight variations.
To be an authentic California-style pizza it should be baked in a wood-fired oven. The dough is usually thinner by a few millimeters too, but will still have a crusty, bubbled-up edge if the pizza chef knows his trade well enough. The use of tomato sauce is minimal, the cheese has to be a good quality buffalo mozzarella, and toppings, if and when added, are often gourmet combinations invented by the pizza chefs themselves.
