Nashua is known for thick crust pizza and to be honest, just about every other type of pizza going. You only have to peruse the pizzeria menus to know this New Hampshire city is definitely not a one type of pizza town. You'll find everything from thick crust, which is the most common, to New York-style, to Sicilian-style to thin crust to Neapolitan to granny's favorite traybake, and a few more besides. All of the above-mentioned pizza types are in fact just variations of the regular thick crust that's one of the traditional Italian pies that's been being made for ever and a day. All that varies between any of them is the thickness of the base and in the case of Sicilian-style, the texture of the dough base is a lot spongier and more like cake than bread.
7 Star Pizza and Restaurant is the pizzeria where you can get the best delivery pizza in Nashua. Order one from there and after you've consumed it whole, you won't be awarding them seven stars but a well-deserved ten. 7 Star has their premises on Nashua's Main Street. It's a bar-style joint with high tables and stools and very little other decoration apart from a couple of slot machines. When a pizza parlor has sparse decoration, you can assume that folk go there because the pizza is good and you wouldn't be wrong. 7 Star prepares fresh batches of dough every day and turns it into wonderful bakes like their Greek Island Special and their Famous Kamikaze pie which is slathered in sweet chili sauce. They bake great pies for vegetarians too, particularly recommended are the Spinach and Feta and the Hawaiian, but the second only if you ask them to leave off the ham and bacon and you like pineapple on your Margarita.
As well as the best take-out pizza in Nashua, what you'll get from Giani's Pizza is a warm family welcome from the folks of this Italian pizzeria who have been baking pies for nigh on twenty years. Giani's premises are on Charron Avenue so a really convenient place to stop off at if you've just flown into Nashua Airport or been hiking in Mine Falls Park. Giani's doesn't go for fancy furnishings so don't expect to find yourself in sophisticated surroundings when you walk through the door. It's basic at best, but all the love and attention is piled into the pizzas they make so your pie won't be a disappointment. Even though they have a good menu of pizza combinations, they like to keep their customers happy so prefer if you choose the topping ingredients for your pizza yourself.
If you're something of the adventurous kind then you'll be chomping at the bit to make the twelve-mile trip from Nashua to Pepperell. Just outside of Pepperell is a skydiving center, Skydive Pepperell, where you can learn to go solo or take a tandem jump while strapped to a trained instructor. That's not an activity for everyone and definitely not one to do if you have a fear of heights so if that's the case, take a tour around the Butterfly Place, a botanical garden, instead before dropping in at Pizza Pizzazz on Main Street for a down to earth pie.
Litchfield is a rural town on the Merrimack River less than ten miles north of Nashua. Litchfield is bordered not only by the river but by the Litchfield State Forest. It's a scenic wooded area where you can go traipsing through the trees along old timber roads rather than designated trails, spot wildlife, and just generally chill out. For something completely off the grid go to the Spooky World Present Nightmare New England, a theme park that will leave you screaming. Take sustenance before you go by having a pizza at Romano's on Colby Road.
Jaffrey is around a forty-minute drive west from Nashua and is bordered by the Monadnock State Park which is a super place to visit if you're a peak bagger who likes scrambling up mountains. Mount Monadnock, New Hampshire's highest peak is the central feature of the park and stands a staggering three thousand, one-hundred and sixty-five feet high. Climbing up isn't easy but very rewarding. If that's not your thing, pick up a take-out pizza from the Jaffrey Pizza Barn on Blake Street and have a quiet picnic in the woods.
