Upper Darby is a township located in Delaware Country and it is a suburb of the city of Philadelphia. The area was originally settled by Swedish immigrants in the 16th Century. In fact, one of the most famous attractions is the Swedish Cabin on Creek Road which was built circa 1653 and is a designated PA historical marker. The area was later settled by Quakers in 1786 and it was particularly active as part of the anti-slavery movement. As a result, it is also home to several Underground Railroad sites.
In recent years, Upper Darby Township had 82, 795 residents at the 2010 census; making it PA’s sixth most populated municipality. It has a diverse population, with residents from over 100 ethnic cultures. Although Upper Darby is not particularly well known as a city for pizza, there is a varied selection of pizzerias, restaurants, and takeout serving up America’s favorite food.
