1) Pero’s Pizza & Pasta

  • Established: 1969
  • Signature dish: Cheese pizza
  • Working hours: Open 7 days a week. Monday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM; Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

This Northside restaurant has operated for more than half a century. Founded in 1969 by Charles and Wendy Pero, this local’s favorite is gaining more following with each new generation.

Their crispy mouthwatering pies are what they are famous for. You can’t go wrong with the cheese pizza (and customize it by preference with more than 20 toppings choices) or simply choose their custom pizzas.

All pies can be made with regular, whole wheat, gluten-free, or extra thick Yankee crust. Their eponymous pie, Pero’s Special Pizza is a meat-lovers delight with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. Veggie lovers’ dream is the Power Pizza – a cheese-less pie with mushrooms, broccoli, tomatoes, green peppers, and onions.

Besides pies, Pero’s serves salads, appetizers, sandwiches, calzones, pasta dishes (wholewheat and gluten-free alternatives available), chicken and veal dishes, seafood, desserts, and more.

2) Antico Pizza

  • Established: 2009
  • Signature dish: San Gennaro Pizza
  • Working hours: Open 7 days a week. Monday to Friday from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM; Saturday from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM; Sunday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Back in 2009 when owner Giovanni Di Palma opened Antico Pizza, he didn’t open just one more pizzeria in town. He created a “Little Italy” complex in West Midtown that has been flocking with locals and tourists ever since.

They serve Neapolitan-style pizza made from high-quality ingredients, baked in a stone oven imported from Italy.

There are five white and five red pizza varieties served well done and slightly charred.

The Margherita D.O.P. with buffalo mozzarella cheese, San Marzano tomatoes, garlic, and basil is the Neapolitan classic. However, don’t miss out on their signature San Gennaro pizza. Made with salsiccia, red peppers, buffalo mozzarella cheese, and cipollini.

3) Da Vinci’s Pizza

  • Established: 2006
  • Signature dish: Any Signature Pizza
  • Working hours: Open 7 days a week. Monday to Friday from 11:30 AM to 12:00 AM; Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM.

Even though Da Vinci’s Pizzeria was first opened in 2006, the inspiration for it began in the ’70s. The owners were driven by the importance of great food and service fused in a welcoming restaurant. Thus, Da Vinci’s was born.

They serve gourmet and signature pizzas on a thin pizza crust, brushed with garlic butter and parmesan cheese. Furthermore, the pies are topped with house-made tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and additional toppings.

Da Vinci’s has a large selection of calzones, pasta dishes, sandwiches, and salads. However, we’re here for the pizza.

Mona Lisa Pizza is smiling from one of the walls, and from the menu, too. Try the Mona Lisa Pizza made with garlic, mushroom, spinach, and tomatoes. Or if you want a meat pie, go for a Primal Rage Pizza consisting of bacon, ham, Italian sausage, meatball, and pepperoni.

4) Slim & Husky’s Pizza Beeria

  • Established: 2015
  • Signature dish: California Love
  • Working hours: For Howell Mill Road location: Closed on Monday. Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Friday and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM. For Metropolitan PKWY location: Monday to Thursday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Friday and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

There were three best friends. The one was slim, and the other two were big fellas, so they were asking their mothers to buy them clothes from the children’s husky section. The old joke became the name of the pizzeria they opened years later in North Nashville.

What started as a pizza joint to serve unique pies and provide jobs to their neighborhood became a fast-casual, gourmet pizza joint beloved by locals.

Inspired by the hip-hop scene with a touch of 90s nostalgia, this pizzeria serves artisan, slim (10-inch) or husky (16-inch) pies, with unique names. You can indulge in Cee No Green pizza with red sauce, cheese blend, ground beef, pepperoni, hickory smoked bacon, Canadian bacon, and Italian sausage.

Or maybe in a vegetarian California Love consisted of spinach basil pesto, cheese blend, artichoke, sliced tomato blend, and red onion.

Looking for a vegan pizza in Atlanta? Go for a Nothing but a “V” thang with classic red sauce, vegan cheese, fresh spinach, plant-based pepperoni and sausage, mushrooms, and red onions.

Slim & Husky’s operates in two locations in Atlanta, Georgia one in California, and four locations in Tennessee.

5) Nancy’s Pizza

  • Established: 1971
  • Signature dish: Any stuffed deep dish pizza
  • Working hours: Open 7 days a week. Monday to Thursday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM; Friday and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

It’s not a coincidence that Nancy’s Pizza sounds so familiar. It’s the place where stuffed pizza was invented in 1971. While experimenting with pan pizza recipes, Italian immigrants Rocco and Nancy Palese created the famous Chicago-style pie in their pizza parlor.

Craving an appetizing deep dish pizza in Atlanta? You’ll find the best at Nancy’s.

The thick, stuffed pie has a crisp and buttery crust, tangy red sauce, and lots of melted mozzarella. However, there are many varieties of stuffed pie, including spinach and mushrooms, Italian beef, hot giardiniera and green peppers, pepperoni, banana peppers, and more.

Moreover, they make delicious Chicago-style thin crust pizza, even crispier super thin crust pizza, rustic crust and gluten-free thin crust pizza, too.

Today, the Chicago-based pizzeria has several outposts in Georgia, Missouri, and North Carolina.

6) Plant Based Pizzeria

  • Established: 2019
  • Signature dish: Georgia Peach pizza
  • Working hours: Open 7 days a week. Monday to Thursday from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM; Friday and Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 AM; Sunday from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

The first 100% plant-based pizzeria in Atlanta is logically called Plant Based Pizzeria. They serve vegan & gluten-free pizza, altogether with vegan burgers, flatbreads, calzones, and desserts.

Their pies are made from spelt flour, but gluten-free cauliflower pizza crusts are available, too.

Some of the toppings include vegan mozzarella, ground walnut meat, beyond sausage, kale, avocado, vegan parmesan, and more.

A must-try is the Georgia Peach pizza with roasted basil pizza sauce, vegan mozzarella, spicy beyond sausage, roasted peaches, red onions, and jalapeños.

7) Crispina Ristorante & Pizzeria

  • Established: 2015
  • Signature dish: Sofia Loren pizza
  • Working hours: Open 7 days a week. Monday to Thursday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM; Friday from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM; Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Exceptional cuisine and high-quality food are the two staples on which Crispina Ristorante & Pizzeria is founded.

Crispina is serving delicious thin crust pizzas, salads, sandwiches, pasta dishes, appetizers, and more. Their pizzaiolos prepare fresh dough for the pizzas, naturally leavened and never frozen. Moreover, they make fresh pasta daily.

You can choose one of their signature pies or build your own pizza with toppings by preference. However, pizza chefs recommend choosing 2 to 3 toppings per pie, regarding the delicate nature of the thin crust.

Besides wood-oven baked, they have fried pies. Sofia Loren is one of them, made with fried pizza dough, topped with crushed San Marzano tomatoes, fresh smoked buffalo mozzarella, grated Parmigiano, fresh basil, and extra virgin olive oil.

Or you can order one of their most popular pies - Che Cazzo pizza (without being rude). It is made with fresh buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto Crudo, arugula, shaved Parmigiano, and extra virgin olive oil.

Want a classic? Go for their Regina Margherita with hand-crushed San Marzano tomatoes, fresh buffalo mozzarella, grated Parmigiano, fresh basil, and extra virgin olive oil.

8) Triple Jay’s Pizza

  • Established: 2015
  • Signature dish: Any Detroit- or NY-style pizza
  • Working hours: Open 7 days a week. Monday to Saturday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM; Sunday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

What started as a food truck is now an award-winning brick and mortar pizzeria in Midtown Atlanta.

The owner Jay Terrence started making pizza on the weekends as a bonding activity with his sons. Little did he know it would bring him into the pizza business.

Triple Jay’s Pizza serves Detroit- and New York-style pies, chicken wings, and desserts. All pies can be made with vegan cheese.

Choose their NY-style meat pie – Da Meats with Canadian bacon, pepperoni, sausage, and bacon, or go for a Detroit-style BBQ chicken with barbeque sauce and tender chicken.
