And even earlier than that, in 1727, there were recipes for Bread Pudding in "The Compleat Housewife" by Eliza Smith.

Absolutely. Given the possible ingredients for this pudding, there are quite a few different versions. Indeed, many countries around the globe have their own take on Bread Pudding:

Brazil - Brazilians call it "pudim de pão." Cuba - Usually served with marmalade, its name is "pudín de pan." Hong Kong - Their version comes with vanilla cream sauce. Canada - Canadians make it with maple syrup. Chile - You can find it under the name "colegial." Brussels - In Belgium, they cook it with brown sugar, cinnamon, and apple. Panama - Their interpretation is known as "mamallena." Hungary - It goes by the name "Máglyarakás" which translates to "bonfire."

And that is just to list a few examples. But even in the United States, we got some touch-ups of our own. Namely, the addition of whiskey or rum sauce, whipped cream, and ice cream.

Furthermore, Bread Pudding could also be savory rather than sweet. And depending on how it's served, it can be either hot or cold. Of course, this is just a matter of preference, and the dish has an amazing taste regardless.
