Old Forge pizza was first served by Ghigiarelli's, way back in 1926. Nonni “Grandma” Ghigiarelli concocted the rectangular pizza to feed the hungry miners that would come to eat before or after a long shift.

In time, her creation became the calling card of Old Forge, Pennsylvania. Today, Old Forge proudly proclaims itself to be the “Pizza Capital of the World.”

There are more than a dozen “pizza cafes” in the town of Old Forge, but some of the most popular ones include Mary Lou's, Arcaro & Genell, and Elio G's.
